What's dripping into your mind?
Small thoughts and quiet lies can slowly shape our hearts more than we realize.

I had a faucet that was dripping. Not very much. Just one drop at a time.
But you know how this goes. Something with the faucet was broken, so it began to drip faster (because, of course, I didn’t get it fixed). It finally got fixed because it was just dripping way too much and damaging the tub.
I looked up how much a dripping faucet can waste. Even a slow drip adds up over time. And when it becomes a steady trickle? It can waste an incredible amount of water, cost thousands of dollars, and cause real damage.
I heard a new song by Caleb and Kelsey called, But the Word Says. I’ve linked it to YouTube below if you want to hear it. They sing about “whispers in the dark, they twist my mind” and “all the voices got me confused, telling lies that I’ve been captive to.”
That’s what the drips are like to our minds.
Drip. One bad thought won’t affect me.
Drip. One untruth won’t trip me up.
Drip. One harsh word is better than that guy I saw yelling at his kids.
Drip. One false belief won’t change my behavior.
Or will it?
God talks a lot about our minds. Romans 8:6 is pretty direct. “For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.” In Romans 12:2, Paul says, “and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”
How do we renew our minds?
Through the word of God, which according to Hebrews 4:12 is “living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit…”
Here are some false beliefs to attack:
That harsh word. But the Word says, “Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29
That bad thought that makes me bitter. But the Word says, “See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled.” Hebrews 12:15
That untruth about my neighbor. But the Word says, “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.” Philippians 4:8
That false belief about God forsaking me. But the Word says, “…for He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5
Even though these drips may seem inconsequential, they add up and can cause great harm to our minds, souls, and hearts, and to others as well.
Here’s that song from Caleb and Kelsey. It causes me to dance around my house when I listen to it. 😊
Because the Word says, “I’m chosen, I’m free!”
